Landscapes in Iceland have been shaped by fire and by ice. However, during the last 1100 years, since humans first settled in Iceland, these landscapes have changed dramatically. One of these drivers of change are sheep.

This short course discusses the sustainability of sheep grazing in Iceland and explores how history, socioeconomic factors and environmental conditions have shaped the management of grazing resources.

Sheep in the Land of Fire and Ice is a short Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) created by the Agricultural University of Iceland and the University of Iceland, where you will learn about sheep grazing, management and land conservation in Iceland.
